Thanks. Here is one of the pics from the link.

It is getting to the point of finding something that has not been done 100 times before or has not been done well. This map is the one I planned out for last years halloween mapping contest at Unreal Playground.

This pic is of the exterior of the team base. None of the terrain work or lighting has been done yet so the pic looks as incomplete as it is.

Ignore the link above it does not work. I had to remove that map and reload the file with all of the parts. Seems I forgot to add a texture pack.

I was thinking of getting back to finishing it, but i am not quite sure if i can. I would have to remove 3 outer zones, including terrain. Then i would have to rebuild one gigantic zone to replace them. I fear the editor will crash if i try it, but i may try it when i get some downtime.

If it works, I can continue my work with it. I have currently given up on it though, as a result of the 3 zones being split, when they should have just been one.

If the editor can take the abuse I've been giving it the past week, it can handle anything. The level runs fine at a descent framerate, but in the ed if my camera is outside of my geometry trying to work, it slows way down.

Hehe, i must be very unlucky, because i am quite capable of raping the editor with my antics. images/icons/blush.gif

Someone made a decent map and when i opened it up in the editor, all i saw was boxes. Can'tquite figure that one out. It was like no textures, terrain, or geometry was in there. images/icons/confused.gif

Like UED2 UED3 has it's problems. There are somethings that simply bork it. Like using the Terrain Smooth tool and accidentally touching the edge of the terrain, crash city.

It has become a matter of learning what the editor's quirks are and working around them.

As for having boxes with nothing in them, it is possible they have grouped and hid everything or turned the display off in the window panes. Like teh torch emitters in DM-Curse3. In game you see tham, but in the editor they seem to be missing. They are not missing, they have just been made invisible in the editor, you can change that by opening up the properties of somehing you can see and then using the find function to find what you are looking for. Then go to advanced and change "bHiddenEd" and or "BhiddenGroup" to "false". After that the missing items should show up again. Peope with lower end systems or really complex map do this so the editor runs smoother, it is also easier to see wha you are working on without stuff that is done getting in the way.

UnrealEd (no matter if version 1, 2 or 3) displays brushes only which have no group name by default or which don't have the "bHiddenGroup" option set to "True". To make the editor display all brushes you have to open the Group Browser and check all group names, and set any "bHiddenGroup" back to "False".

There are three phases. The first ends July 15, 2003, Phase 2 is some time in October and the final phase ends next March.

Awesome. I may submit my Karma Map, for what it's worth images/icons/blush.gif , for this current one, because of it's wonderful use of the ragdoll in the level. images/icons/smile.gif

I will try to set up my other map for the October deadline.

Good luck Wamplet! Man, I've been working on my level non-stop for the past couple of weeks. I've never worked so hard in my life, but it seems to be paying off. I just hope it's complete by the deadline. I hope George will take a look at it. images/icons/wink.gif

well im making something unreal but it wont be finished for the contest.

im working on rebuilding Duke3d on Unreal Engine, doing as much of it as i can by myself.

i know u all think im crazy and im not allowed to etc etc blah blah, but it is for my my major yr 12 multimedia assignment, it wont be ready for a while but it isnt due till term 3 next year.

im still looking for mappers and texture artists, i am allowed a little help, aslong as majority of it is my work.

ive posted up some screenshots of the assault trooper currently in production (yes i know he has no arms/feet) if he (and his animations) r complete he will be entered into the comp.

a site is also under construction to keep people posted about the progress of my mod.

I rebuilt the rooftop from Hollywood Holocaust in UT some months ago, then told about it in the froums and I immediately got a private message from Joe that it is not allowed to remake anything Duke3D.

Joe sounded bloody serious about that. So if I was you I'd better not risk getting in serious trouble with 3DR's copyright policy.

^ Yeah, Mark Rein stated that they didnt want any remakes, unless it was from UT or unreal, and so forth, because it would most likely violate copyrights if it was from another game, etc.

Yes. It is the layout of the map that is protected by the copy right which is what is being broken by the recreation of Duke3D maps. If I wasn't so lazy I'd dig up the other threads that this came up in.

Man, I'm all bummed out about it. I didn't even get an honerable mention and everything I had was custom, textures and everything.

That's o.k. though, I'm pissed now and I'll have a little sup'm sup'm for em' next time.
