View Full Version : static meshes
Do you have to export usx files for your map if using additional static meshes?
I am curious about this because I got rid of my
usx file and kept the texture file they needed and the static meshes still showed up in the map! Does the editor embed the meshes and only need textures or something?
This is confusing. I don't have a mylevel usx file for new static meshes, but yet they still work. After importing them (new static meshes) I deleted
the packet I saved them in, so I thought when I rebuilt it would remove the meshes but it didn't. Their still in my map! I don't want to get rid of the meshes, just to know why their still there! If you use new meshes do you have to export the .usx file or does it embed the meshes in to your map?

The "mylevel" package is held within the *.ut2 file. Indeed, if you try to save the package within the static mesh browser unrealed will try to create "mylevel.usx", which, indeed, would not be a good thing. Instead, when saving the level, all assets held within the mylevel packages will be integrated within the *.ut2 file.
