View Full Version : Terrain Flickering

I have a farily small map, but the terrain seems to flicker and go away when i am far away from the center. If I get right near the center it comes back. The terrain is still there even though it's invisible, It just flickers off when i turn away or am far from the center.
anyone have an idea why it does that? I have made terrain before and I'm sure it's something I overlooked, but just wondering if anyone knows. images/icons/frown.gif

Nevermind. I think it may have been related to the person's tutuorial. I found several people having the exact problem I had when they used that tutorial.
In any case, I went to use a different terrain tutorial and all is well. images/icons/smile.gif

I think this is just a quirk of the Unreal engine. It happens to me as well when I build Deus Ex maps.

But it does sound like a BSP problem. I haven't used the Terrain Editor enough to guess at what that might be.

I went to teh ut2k3 forums and apparently it looks like a problem with the tutorial. Several people had complained about the exact same problem and had used the same tutorial.
This was the offending tutorial: http://www.unrealops.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=29 nder Tutorials and and then Terrain on the left menu.
I deleted my terrain and started over, using an older Terrain tutorial from http://www.planetunreal.com/architectonic/ and it was fine.
