For those of you who do not now, I challenged FPSMaster to a match in Duke3d, in which the stakes were high--- The loser was fired from Grape's Thoughts.

That loser was me, I lost by a score of 10 to 4...

This whole experience has shown me that online gaming is pointless, if I lose to a lamer like FPSMaster (in a match and I lose my job) what's the point of playing online at all?

1) Sith, I didn't write the 'dtlastwords' part where the prank was revealed, that was Grape. I think he gave Foo credit because he was the first to catch on-- From the posts, it appeared that the rest of you were basically saying, "yeah maybe you're right" after he questioned us. Hmm.. what to say. This was a pretty clever joke, but pissing people off for several days before 4/1/99 isn't really that funny.

Uncle Duke, this was a once-a-year kind of thing. Lighten up, it's April Fools.

Illusion, planning in advance was the best way to rope people into thinking it was real and therefore fooling them. To enjoy a joke, you really have to have a good sense of humor.
For those of you who are angry about it, I apologize, but please rest assured that this is not something that's going to happen every other day or anything. April Fools is a special occasion, and I (we) probably won't do anything next year because I (we) can't really top this prank.

I'd say it was The Grape who gave it away. If it weren't for his exaggerated enthusiasm in a match he was not taking part in, I might have been fooled. Then again, if it weren't for his hyping, there would have been no joke in the first place.

Situations like this (real ones) happen under different circumstances, and are very rarely publicly announced beforehand. The publicizing of the match was what gave it away. Ironic isn't it?
