Looking for a good co-op game or two

I've got a PS3 with two Dualshock 3s and I'm seriously lacking in good offline multiplayer right now. All I've got right now is Call of Duty 4, GTAIV, and MGS4. That means my only offline option is basically one on one deathmatch in CoD4, which isn't the most fun considering the fact that my friends haven't played online and don't really have much of a chance against me. I'd like to get a good co-op game to play with them but I don't know which is good to have.

I'm planning on getting LEGO Star Wars to play with my girlfriend but my friends and brother would probably prefer something more serious, so recommend a good shooter with fun co-op in the vein of Halo's co-op, which works really well.

There's really not that much, really.

Haze has coop, but I'm not sure if you'd like it or not. Download the demo and see.

Off the top of my head, no FPS coop game comes to mind from the PS3. Kane and Lynch, sure, but you either loved or hated that game.

I know Resistance: Fall of Man and GRAW2 have co-op, and I think the R6: Vegas games do too, but I'm just not sure which are worth playing. Thus the thread. :o

R6 has good co-op on PC. Dunno about PS3.

Really, the 360 is the co-op king at the moment if shooters are what you're looking for. Hard to beat Halo 3 and Gears of War.

Army of Two is decent if you're gonna play co-op.

Don't know if you can download demos on the PS3, but there was one for the 360, so there should be one for the PS3 if you want to give it a try.

Yeah there's no PS3 demo. :( I might pick up Army of Two and R6 Vegas 2 in a few weeks. Army of Two doesn't have online play between regions, so my friend in England and I wouldn't be able to play. :(

If you haven't tried it yet and can't get a demo, I'd suggest seeing if you can rent it before you shell out 50 bones. I've only played the demo, and it was kinda fun, but a lot of the reviews indicate it gets old fast. Of course, co-op alone can turn a mediocre game into a good one. That's why it always amazes me when developers don't take the time to include it. Sure it takes a fair amount of consideration as to how it'll be implemented, but I really think it drives a pretty good portion of sales for games that have it.

Well, no Call of Duty has ever had co-op. At least the IW didn't.

Well yeah but I figure it would've been easy to put in. Splitscreen, at least. That seems to be the least they could have done.

Timesplitters 2 and 3 have great coop. Never played TS1 but AFAIK that's MP only (and SP with bots)

That's what I was gonna suggest, but then a gain, those are old games, and its possible he had a PS3 that didn't play PS2 games.

If he has it though, then get TS2 indefinitely, it's the best of the three so far (number 4 is currently being made for this gen)

No I've got a backwards-compatible PS3, but it would be nice to get some PS3 games to really get the shiny graphics and so that I can play online with my friend. And Wamplet, believe me I'm waiting for SWAT 5 to come out and make an appearance on PS3. :love:

Yeah, i am guessing it's only a matter of time, because the publisher has the resources to do it.

And right now Ubisoft is the only publisher putting out tactical shooters...there's a lot of room there.
