DRM free, 256kbps and an amazing deal.

U.S. only. :( What the shit is that about? I thought I'd share with you folks anyway, but this pisses me off. Yet they wonder why people resort to P2P when they won't even accept our money. I mean think about it, if I drove over the border bought it then drove back I would have it. Silly americans...

I'm rather shocked they were able to sell them that cheap anyway, some bands seem to have rather tight licensing issues, Zep being one of them along with the Beatles. 2 bands that we cannot get on our internet jukeboxes at work, they (not the bad, whoever does the licensing) refuse to license AMI I guess...

US only because the record companies still have too much power and are still not willing to accept that it's now a global market. Which is why I do not give any of my money to the record industry.

Support your local artist. ;)

I wasn't even given a choice. Maybe I would like to pay, but obviously they don't care. They would rather I go out steal it than take advantage of this offer. Thats how broken their business model is.

You guys are forgetting distribution rights, these still apply in the global economy and obviously the distributor does not have them for other countries outside of the U.S..

Distribution rights are of the old system. Once the internet came into effect that sort of rights system should have been shit canned. There is no such thing as seperate markets when dealing with the internet - just "internet". Why does it matter where the money comes from?

Same goes for buying stuff over steam. Companies have a very outdated way of entering the digital age. The reality is you could double your sales by including Canada, triple by including the UK and god knows how much by including the world. Enough of this old style distribution scheme.

When it comes down to it people are going to get the music legally or illegally. Why not make the legal method easier than piracy? It's far easier to shell out $10 here than it is to find a decent torrent or P2P app.

agree. are you canadian?
cause i am,
and alot of these deals piss me off.
the reason for this is mostly due to quebec. alot of american contests would normally include canada, but quebec law kills it for all of us. i mean, no one even likes quebec anyways.
(if you wanna know my major quarrl with quebec, ill be glad to pm you. it may anger ppl here.

maybe it has somthing to do with that, i dunno.

While I pretty much agree with you it still is the way it is, and a lot of money is involved. Different distributors in different countries, wether or not they are subdivisions of the original copyright-owner, aquired the distribution rights a long time ago and they are still holding on to them.

For a record label in the U.S. to be able to sell that specific music globaly they'd have to reaquire the rights to the regions in question, so economically it wouldn't make sense for them to do that. They got their money already, they don't care what people outside of the U.S.A. have to pay for that music and piracy outside of the U.S. isn't really their concern.

I don't think this is gonna' change anytime soon.

I just bought Led Zeppelin IV a few weeks ago for 10 bucks. As much as I like owning the physical media I would have paid 10 bucks for the entire collection :p Canadian here as well and restrictions like this are just dumb

Wrong. You just want to be angry and justify your own actions. The picture is bigger than you avatar. This was explained above. It's not about "**** the little guy" as much as the little guy wants to think it is that.

As for the deal itself, it appears that was some sort of mistake. I saw this deal posted elsewhere and looked at it. I can find all the individual albums for $9.99, but not "the entire thing" for just $9.99. Unless I'm missing something on the page. The link at the top of the page redirects to here (http://mp3.rhapsody.com/ledzeppelin) where I can't find the really good deal.

Sorry? Yes I just want to be angry, thats it. Being annoyed at being denied a purchase on music that exists on Canadian shelves is irrational right? "Justify your own actions" <- and what praytell are you insinuating with this? I never said I was going to download it. You are assuming far too much.

The deal ended yesterday. It was a promotional thing. All the more reason to be annoyed at having missed it.
