About 3 years ago when Duke was on its prime and me and my friends used to play for hours on end on a daily basis a friend of mine told me that he had acquired a copy of an unreleased version of duke. Obviously, I didnt believe him. I went to his house as fast as I could(no car at the time =\) and he showed it to me![dont be gettin the wrong idea boys and girls] There it was, a stable multiplayer-ready(we tried it out, dont rem. if we modemed or interneted though..prolly both) version of Duke. It was so long ago, I just remember it being a very smooth game and wonder what was that which I played? Really a beefed up duke version by the original duke team, some kind of hacky prank or just the product of excessive marijuana usage?!
Hope one of yaz has the answers, Im not sure I still have a copy of it though =\

Someone simply hacked the version number with a hex editor, changed it to 1.7 and called it a "developers version." All it does is allow you to play the Duke It Out in DC Add-on as a 5th episode, without having to install and uninstall it. This was floating around Usenet a few years ago.
The Atomic version (1.5) is the latest Duke Nukem 3D release by 3D Realms.

Nutwrench.. I've seen a hacked version with the same name but it had nothing to do with Duke it out in Dc. It patched your Duke version from version 1.3 to 1.7. Which means 1.3 to atomic (1.5).

Uh, to call it "Developer's edition" is wrong, because we are the developers, and it did not come from us. It is an illegal hack.

I've also heard about v1.7, but yes, NutWrench is correct, it's an illegal "developer's" version and is not supported.
