Anyone had experience buying games from this service? Was your experience good? Bad? The reason I ask this is because I'm slowing going away from purchasing PC games at local game stores. (I hate CDs and I throw the box away) It's easier to pay with paypal and download 'em.
Once I pay, download and install, is the PC game tied to the computer I originally install it on? Meaning will the game(s) I download install on any computer?
Steam is great but it doesn't have some games I'm after (Sims 2 packs for example).

I don't know if it's locked to 1 computer, but it has activation limit.

Damn. Do they have an app like 2k did with bioshock? (gives you back your installs)
PS
I'm aware bioshock no longer has a limit ;)

Whoops seems like I mistook it for an other service, it actually lets you install it as many times as you like.
I've read of one down side though, because of the copy protection, you can't use regular patches for games, you have to wait for the d2d guys to update the game.

That's not *too* bad. I'll just avoid multiplayer games if that's the case :)

This product is only available for purchase in the United States and Canada.
Okay, so they don't want my money? Fine :p
Anyone recommend a download service which isn't so fuxing anal?

I like D2D, I bought Condemend there. But you ask if there is another service, Steam is going to have way more than anyone else. They will have sims sooner or later most likley.

Unless there's some deal going down between EA and Steam, The Sims will be way off.

That limitation is for certain publishers like Ubisoft.

Which limitation? The patches or purchasing?

Weird. EA handles Valve's retail releases don't they? It's not like Valve and EA are enemies. :o

They do? WTF? :o I demand EA games on Steam! :)

Your demanding that on the wrong forum :)
Really, it seems like everything is going to Steam. Everytime I log in over there they added 10 new games.

For you Sims stuff Steve. Not sure how it's tied exactly, besides to an account. I only used it for the BF2 booster packs from retail euro purchases and those linked to my BF2 account.

I don't see a reason why EA would let steam sell the Sims, it's not like it needs any more attention.

Cheers :) I was looking at that last night.

EA have their own online download store but it sucks. I'd like to have Sims 2 on steam. Have you over tried to run a sims game without the CD?.. yeah, don't try  Having it on steam would make it 100x easier.

Purchasing the game outside US, Mexico and UK or whatever country they choose to make it available to.

Sucks. I can go down to the local game store (which I hate doing) and pick up those games :o

Try "TryGames" and see if that works for you. I know that some companies who use Direct2Drive use this as well.

There seems to be only guides on how to play the big named games. The rest are mini games I wouldn't pay $2 for :(
But thanks for the suggestion :) :)

Steve, imaging software works for those CD swapping needs with the Sims.
But yeah, the EA store has sucked since it was Downloader, then Link... and now. :p

Well, not quite. For me anyway. I could not get a working image file and I've tried everything. My cds are worn from it :o
I hate CDs and I'll be going with the EA store option. It's not *too* bad but it's no STEAM.
