duke theme?
i know in the past i said i did a final version.
i realize now that you just cant do a final version for such an epic song, so i went ahead.

if you listen to it, please comment on it!

i put this one together in about 15 minutes, so its not done. also, the guitar is inconsistant throughout it. this is because i broke my guitar as i was recording. ive yet to take it apart and see what is wrong, but its not sounding good plugged in. ill probably need a new one sadly :(

yup, thats me... about 2 years ago.
as for the echo, your probably hearing it cause your not listening to it in stereo. try with some headphones. other then that, i dont know why it would do that.

I don't think anyone would want to plagiarize your version though...sounds about the same as any other rendition I've seen through the years. But I'm yet to see anyone surpass VertexGuys version.

vertexguy has ben surpassed many times. i believe this to be because his is pretty much the megadeth version with one riff that megadeth left out, and a solo at the end. his other videogame covers were much better.

also, this version was to test out a new audio app, so i put it together in about an hour and a half. no real effort went into it

was a bit difficult, as i was learning the program as i went. im hopefully getting a pod-X3 in september. this will allow me to do some sick stuff (like play my guitar through 2 amp setups at once, allowing me to pan one to left and the other right. would be sick stuff!).

the next version i do will probably have a keyboard solo (like the one i did in iceman's duke theme contest :) ).

also, your mix could be better for the Duke nukem jam. i have a bunch of your other songs on my mp3 player, and duke nukem is the only one that wasnt as well mastered.

I find it interesting that you think its a megadeth copy. Megadeths cover is considerably different than mine. In fact, the vast majority of my version is actually the original Duke Nukem 3d grabbag, straight from the PC (where it all began). The only sections of mine that are from megadeth are the intro (but even there I added a change) and then the bridge that leads to my solo. The mastering on it is just as good as the Contra Jungle Jam. It's more likely that the mp3 compression is throwing you. Listen to it on the Duke Nukem Trilogy trailer. That was a full quality version. Regardless, my setup has definitely improved considerably from when I did this (almost 3 years ago).

well, i still think contra is mixed better, but its probably a matter of opinion. but the layout of the song felt almost the same as the megadeth version.
example: the buildup riff was used 4 times as the megadeth version (grabbag used it 2 times. this isnt a bad thing, jsut comparing), u slowed down after the buildup to do the lead slower (i recognize that you did this differently though.) and so on.

Yeah, the guy is an ******* regardless of whether he credited you or not. I commented on one of the songs (The MEGATRON version), that I thought it would be better without Dukes vocals over it. I gave it 4 stars. He got all pissed off because I "ruined his five star rating" and blocked me.

1 or 2 people DO have the mp3, but I wont tell you who they are, and they wont give it out either. these were special requests before the song was done.
If you are farmilliar with my past covers, you will be pleasantly supprised with this one. I'm working with new software and hardware now, which is making everything a bit easier. this version is not final mix wise, but musically, it is done.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I've uploaded a new version, which has some major changes, including tempochanges towards the end (I'm messing with features in Melodyne Plugin, before I'm forced to upgrade it to the new Melodyne Editor).
I'm at a time right now, that Music is basically the only thing keeping me going. school is on the downfall, and all my friends are tied up in exams, while I took an extra year of highschool to get some missing credits.
this track was something to take my mind off of all the crap going on around me currently.
As far as production goes this is top notch! Guitar tones are excellent and the drums are nice and clear and punchy. The lead could be a little more fluid and interesting and the drum programming could be a little more imaginative, though. But this is quite a nice-sounding track otherwise.
thanks. everything was rushed, and I need to upload a new version wiht a fixed lead guitar. I dont really care too much about the drums right now, as I HATE the soundfont I'm using, and BFD Lite is refusing to run no matter what I try.
I've done alot of fixing on the track, but the drums are pissing me off to no end.
I'll upload the new version now, so when you read this, you will hear some fixed things.
keep in mind, that I'm nowhere near a good guitarist. I cant sweep pick, or do proper tapping techneques (cant even finger pick). playing any better is difficult for me.
btw, the guitar tone is Podfarm Plugin. I wanted to try it out, as it was bundeled with my new Pod-X3

everything was done in FL-Studio 8.5 XXL edition,
recording done with melodyne plug-in inside FL-Studio.
Drums were sequenced in FL-Studio using some soundfount I pulled off of sf2midi a long time ago.
