I've got a:
----------
AMD Thunderbird 1.2ghz
256Mb pc2100 DDR ram
Geforce2 MX400 64meg
----------

And at the default settings (everything maxed out at 1024x768x32) I get 28fps and it drops to 10fps in a gun fight...that is not good images/icons/frown.gif anyway how does it play on your computer?

I have a tandy 386 with a new CGA graphics card! It's got 4 mb's of ram but I may soon upgrade to 8. I get an average of 120 FPS although I has dipped as low as 70 on some occasions. BTW: I have the graphics settings on the highest.

Sadly, there is no peaceful, non-offensive way to say: "DIE AND GO TO HELL!"

I have a TB 1,2GHz 256MB RAM and a GeForce 2 GTS, I run it at 80fps in 1024x768x32 with full details and anisometric view etc. I think you need to install the VIA drivers if you have a VIA chipset motherboard, that's the 4 in 1 drivers. Also you should probably get a new Detonator driver... I don't think the MX should get THAT much lower performance, but I'm not sure. Your CPU is way faster than your graphics card though...

Also note that the GeForce2MX400 has half the bandwith of a GeForce2MX. It's a crappy gfx-card to say the least. Even my good-ol' GeForce256 shows better results.

see http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/gf2mx400/default.asp for "proof".

[edit] -> OK, I see (after rereading the firingsquad article) that I may have exaggerated a bit, but nevertheless, steer away from the GF2MX400! images/icons/grin.gif

Yeah I was wondering about your extremely lousy FPS for that system you have there Glyrion.

I have a AMD Athlon 750Mhz, 256MB RAM and a GeForce 2 GTS 32MB card and I get 40 fps normally and maybe 35 fps during them dramatic gun fights. I have everything maxed out and I'm playing at the same resolution as you. graemlins/hhg.gif

I've got an:
----------
[Intel 450MHz]
256Mb pc100 (Value RAM)
Voodoo5
----------

And at 800x600 (16Bpp) with everything set to medium (A/Aliasing done by the board), it runs fine (apart from an occasional system lock-up if I let Max stand around for too long without pausing the game).

However, I was AMAZED at the quality and speed that are available to a system so 'archaic' as a PIII 450. (Ha ha).

Although I'd love to be able to see the Game 'IFE' (in full effect, sorry), it's not cramping the fun as far as I like to be concerned about. I'm to the point that minor slowdowns don't really bother me; unless I'm dead when it all clears up. graemlins/hhg.gif

Have you tried backing off one of the more 'processor bully' functions? I turned everything to 'low' except sound-related settings (which are super, by the way).

I have P111 450, geforce2MX and 256 RAM, dont know what fps i get.....and do be honest i am not that bothered to find out images/icons/smile.gif , it runs very smoothly at 1024*768 with options on Med or High without slowdown that would make me want to lower the settings, i am amazed it runs as well as it does after reading about the requirements.

I have a Pentirm4 1500Mhz, with only 128 mb but with a GeForce3. I play at max detail and the max res my screen can take (1600x1200x32) and the game works great with no slowdowns at all.

PIII 600
256MB RAM
64MB Geforce2 GTS
Win 98 SE
6.8GB hard drive
lastest drivers for everything

I can run the game with all the sliders turned all the way up, and at 1024 X 768 X 32

The game always runs at around 20-30 fps. There are only about 2 or 3 times in the whole game where it gets choppy. I was very surprised that I would be able to play it at that level.

tnt2 m64(32meg)
192ram

1024x768x32 and most things on highest settings

hehe,it even ran fine when I had 64ram

don't know fps

Can run the game with all the settings on high. 1280 X 1024 X 32
except for the problem, that the RADEON cards aren't exactly good for staying cool.
Nout wrong with my fans (got 3 inside- thermo engine) although the Radeon just gets too hot after a bit with the settings on full
lol
love ATI

According to the benchmarks at http://www.rivastation.com/max_payne_e.htm
the Geforce 2 MX400 does get about 20fps on max detail and 1024x768x32, haha...while the Geforce 2 GTS gets 36fps and the Geforce 3 gets 73fps.
Wow the MX blows, GET A NEW CARD!

The following specs:

PIII 1GHz
ASUS V8200 Deluxe GeForce3
ASUS Detonator 3 12.60 Drivers
384mb RAM
CUV4X ASUS Motherboard
Windows 98 SE
DirectX 8.0a
VIA 4in1 4.32 FINAL Drivers
LG 52x CD-ROM

Playing with the 1.01 patch with things set at high at 1024x768x16bit I get no slowdowns. I have not tried 32bit (but there will probably be no difference). Also, I can't say what my FPS are. How do you find out?

A tip from the Max Payne help section is:
"... check that you have "AGP Texture Acceleration Enabled" in DirectX."
I checked my DirectX setup, and found my texture acceleration to be disabled. When enabling this, I got a real boost on my Gainward GeForce2 MX card when playing MP. Negative side effect was that I had to reduce my overclocked settings, as my Gefoce-card got unstable ...

If you're not sure, check it!
