Cheats

I have just started playing Duke Nukem again after a long long time and I wanted to test out some of the cheats the game has available, but when I push T to send a message, nothing pops up, and nothing happens when I attempt to type in the cheat other than what the keys are meant to do in-game. I also made sure messages were on with F8, and tried the text macro thing with shift-f. So, does anyone have a solution?

~ opens the console in EDuke32.

But you don't need to open a console or anything. You should be able to just type in the cheats and it works. You will move around or something like that while typing in the code but the results will be that of the code.
