so,
today i woke up to my father barging into my room with a ladder. it was 8 in the morning, and i dont usually get up till 12-1. i immediately said "what the hell are you doing!? i was sleeping you know!". he responds with
"we have racoons in the attic".
great. and my room has the access hatch to the attic.
he proceeded to look around, and throw moth balls around hoping they would leave.
i went downstairs and started googleing around for the local animal control.
(i found out that their not easy to find). then i started thinking "this isnt going to be cheap, is it". i asked my father, and he agreed. repairs also need to be done, as there is a huge hole in the thing on my roof. to top it off, there is a thunderstorm coming this afternoon.
fantastic!
that ruins my idea of going downtown to get away from the smell of moth balls.
i can already see this is gonig to be a super day
:dalek:

Good luck.

What happened with the raccoons?
Animal control brought in some repairmen to fix the damage, and install a 1 way door. so when they leave to get food, they cant get back in. they also put metal cages around all the exaust pipes and what not around the roof. i believe the insolation in the attic now needs to be completely replaced.

Building doors for raccoons?
Why couldn't they just capture or shoot them?

^ Exactly. All they're going to do is find another way in.

my dad was asking me if i knew people with bibi guns. (most guns in general are illegal in canada). and of course i know some ;)
but last night, they managed to break more of the roof. there is a part that hangs over the edge. they fell out of that area leaving a huge hole.
yet another price increase.

RACCOON PIE
1 raccoon
1 qt. water
1 pt. vinegar
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 oz. pickling spices
1 onion, diced
4 sm. potatoes
4 sm. carrots
1 recipe baking powder biscuits
Cut prepared raccoon in serving pieces. Mix water, vinegar, seasonings, sugar and spices together. Put raccoon pieces in this brine for 8 hours or more. Drain, put in stewing kettle and cover with water. Cook until meat is tender. Add onion, potatoes, and carrots. When all ingredients are tender, remove from broth. Thicken liquid with browned flour and butter and season to taste. Place meat and vegetables in a dish and cover with gravy. Cover the top with your own recipe for baking powder biscuits, with a little extra shortening in dough. Cut vent in dough. Bake at 450 degrees until brown, about 12-15 minutes. Serves 8.

Fawk racoons - we've had bats in the house. Nasty sonsabitches. If they were fox bats they'd be very welcome, cause they're cool looking:

Bats aren't exactly a vicious animal. Though admittedly the insect like flapping around scares the shit out of me. :mryuck:
