So who made the achievments for this game? Is it microsoft or 3DRealms? I like the achievments but there could have been some better ones though.

We made them.
What are your suggestions We tried to cover the basics. With only 12 achievements and a max of 200 points you are sort of limited.
You almost have to have an achievement for finishing the 4 volumes, so that's 1/3 of your achievements right there.
I wish we'd have had 50. We could have done much more creative things. As it is, I think we did ok, considering the limitations.

I like what you guys did with the achievements :)
They're fun and varied, even with the limitations...
I think this will be the first game in which I'll complete them all :D

Personally think you've covered the main areas but it's a shame that you're limited to only 12 achievements and 200 points.
Maybe you should get some user made achievements on here and then get user proof via the cool recording feature for proof and then have a forum leaderboard of achievements or something.
Example : Complete level X in 4 minutes
Then you'd reply with
Example : I have completed level X in 4 minutes, Xbox Live Gamertag : <NAME HERE>
The only problem is having someone to moderate and watch the replays to keep it under control

Couldn't you make 0 point achievements? I know they're worthless do people who want gamerscore, but on Steam they have no points and it doesn't bug people (I think). Also some games have to 0 point achievements. Or did MS not allow that for a game like this?

I think they're fine. Just not enough. Damn XBLA and its limitations...

That still doesn't solve the 12 achievement limit.

I know but maybe there would be some more leverage with that option. Thy might make an exception or something. :/

The achievements are fine for most, I think.. With the 4 based on game completion and the 3 gained for ranked kills being the most important, and the stripper and the 'shitty' one being for fun..

In the past MS allowed 0 points Achievements, but I'm not sure if they still do.
I know Kameo did that for downloadable content for instance.
There have also been games with a different amount of total points.
That changed around February 2007 when MS figured that kind of thing didn't exactly look professional on their platform; see this article (http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archive/2007/02/01/540575.aspx).
It doesn't mention limiting the amount of Achievements that I can see though.
Maybe that came later...
It's probably best not to make any exceptions, because then where do you stop?
Actually there was an exception for The Orange Box by Valve, but only because it isn't a single game in there.

Command and Conquer3 has "negative achievements" which have zero points, yeah the orange box has 99 achievements as its 5 games.
Back on topic,I think the achievements are fine, cant wait to work on the DM ones;)

Arcade games are limited to 200 points and 12 achievements. You can't have more than that to my knowledge. When we were discussing achivements, I brought up zero point achivements for doing dumb things like shooting yourself in the foot, or taking 30 minutes to complete Hollywood or something like that.
It was nixed because we were limited in the number of achivements we were allowed to have. As George has pointed out, we did a fairly good balance we think in mixing in single player, multiplayer, and the couple of almost "free" (too easy) ones that most games have, too.

You can have more if you have an expansion pack. I know Puzzle Quest tops out at 250 points, and they had more achievements. But for the base game, I'm pretty sure you're limited to 12/200.

I think one of the achievements should have been: Restroom Vandalism - Break every toilet in the game across all four episodes.

Here's some suggestions for any future expansion releases:
Single Player:
What Is This? A Cabaret? - Kick 1000 times
Lead Farmer - Kill the Cycloid Emperor using only non-explosive weapons
What's Wrong With You? - Kill all the women found in the game.
I Like Them Scrambled - Destroy 500 eggs.
DukeMatch:
Is This Yours? - Pick up a thrown pipebomb, and use it to kill the owner.
Overkill - Freeze somebody, then use an RPG or Devastator to finish the job
They've Crawled Back Into My Body - Get frozen and survive.
OMGWTFHAX! - Kill somebody very far away from you with the shotgun.
Oblivious - Kill somebody with a RPG projectile that's you've fired a second ago.
Flyswatter - Shrink somebody who is using the jetpack, and then kill them.
A Weapon Does Not Make the Man - Killing somebody firing the Devastator at you using the pistol.
Go Out With a Bang - Kick a RPG projectile
I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

I think the Secrete place achievement is going to be really hard. But i see that joe is making a walkthrough and it shows all the secrets so it might be a little bit easier.

They need a ridicolously hard achievment such as........ummmmmm........I got it.
You need help achievment: play a total of 60 hours in a single sitting without dying and a total of 1.000.000 kills.

If those are the best, no offense, then I don't think they'd stand up to the ones that were selected. The ones selected are pretty much in line with the balance often used with other Live games. Plus they gave you an achievement for stepping in shit. What other game can say or give you that? ;)

...And I thought the Mega Man 9 achievement for beating the game 5 times in a day was a bit much.

It wouldn't be that hard, really. Sit on the roof of Hollywood Holocaust for 60 hours, then come down the chute and kill the first trooper to your right.

Meh.
You might not agree, but I think it would be fun to try and get those.
Fun achievements, I find, are always the best ones than the straight forward beat the level ones. More bragging rights.
But to each his own.

You have to strike a balance. Most achievements are tied to the game in some form (in content). Like Hot Coffee was a subtle jab at the fervor created from San Andreas in GTA IV. Stuff like "OMGWTFHAX!" just wouldn't fit. Sounds like old fnord/postwhore, more than it does DN3D.
But that's OK, I chuckled when I didn't see an achievement for juicing (understandably I know why), but hey when was the last time you could ever say stepping in shit ever achieved something for you? ;)
