I have Diamond S90 Sonic Impact A3D sound card and I found out that it seems to freeze Max Payne on my computer. After uninstalling the Vortex drivers there are no problems, but then again, well, Max Payne isnīt much fun without sounds. And because it has so old Chipset, Vortex 1, so newest drivers are quite old. I have no problems with Half-Life or Steel Beasts or any other older games. I have tried disabling the hardware acceleration for my sound card, but it didnīt help. Does anyone else in this forum have the same card, and if so, did you experience any problems?

Ok, I just found out that A3D and Via chipset donīt mix. Guess I just have to buy a new sound card. Perhaps a SounBlaster 512PCI

Would you mind elaborating on the incompatibilities between VIA and Aureal Vortex 1?
I have a TBS Montego A3D on a VIA KT133a motherboard, and am also experiencing the same problem (http://www.mgoforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87314).

Sure Mr.Sparkle. Here is the URL:
Paulīs Unofficial ABIT KA7 Motherboard FAQ (http://www.viahardware.com/faq/ka7/ka7faq.htm)
I changed Terratec Integra128 Quad PCI into my computer and just finished playing Max Payne for 4 hours with no problems at all. Changing soundcard is your only choice Iīm afraid and I know it sucks.
