I recieved Max Payne as a gift. When I tried to play it, it wouldn't run. Now, I have a game I can't play, and a computer from 1998.
I only have a 400 processor, and 8mb graphics card. Money's tight, so is there any inexpensive way to upgrade my computer to meet the game's requirements?
If not, is there any possibility, I can send the game back? I don't have the box anymore.

hmm.. do I smell 'warez' here? Where did you put the box? Where are you going to put the disc when you don't play the game? I wonder if you even have the disc...
And if you've read the minimum requirements for the game it says: "Direct 3d -compatible 16mb graphics card..."
Have a nice day.

I still have the CD container...you know, the one that looks like a DVD container. I don't the box. Also, I didn't know my exact specs for my computer. So I tried anyway.
If you can, answer the question and stop being an ass.

As an answer to your question: Read the final pages of the manual. There is some info about warranty and stuff. If you can't return it, try selling it instead.

What about my upgrade question? Remember...There were 2 questions. Is there anyway to upgrade my computer, for a low price?

Well, it depends on what you consider as a "low price."
I have Voodoo 3 3000 gfx card. It's not good but enough to run MP. Altho I'm not sure how it works with 400mhz cpu (I have 700mhz Duron). I guess it's playable.
Try searching for Voodoo3 and see if you can afford it.
btw. How much RAM do you have?

96.0 RAM

That should be enough if you meet the other min-specs. I'm still concerned about your cpu... is there anyone who runs MP on "a-little-below-the-minimum?"

Dell advocates getting a new computer(big surprise)...but getting a Voodoo graphics card is a step in the right direction?

Yes. At least you fill the 16mb gfx card requirement with Voodoo3.

np.
But hey, I don't guarantee anything.. your cpu is still below minimum. But I'm almost sure it will run. Dunno about the framerates tho...
Glad to help.

Yeah, I have the DVD case too. Good in some ways, annoying in others images/icons/frown.gif
Well, how cheap would you like things to be exactly? There is a good new Advent pc out at PC WORLD with great specs and the latest GeForce graphics card out. All only for about £999.
