comp specs:

Athlon t-bird 1.33 ghz
256 mb ram
GeForce 2 PRO 64mb 9 ( det 14.70, o/c 215\353 )
Diamond monster sound mx400

I figured i'd try beating max payne in a harder mode today, and it loads all fine, until roscoe streat station where it crashes to the desktop.

Any ideas?

Hmmm... have you tried without overclocking your Geforce?

It sounds like I have the same problem. I get past the point where the wife and baby have been killed, the story-boards are shown, and then as the Roscoe Street Station level is loading it crashes to the desktop with a little message box saying something like: Exception techno-blah-blah-blah... something about an R_MemorySpace("") or something (I'm trying to go off my memory here). Anyway, it's totally reproducable. I'm up to the latest NVidia drivers for my GeForce2 MX board. I'm running with an AMD 800 and 320 MB RAM. Nothing is overclocked. I've tried setting my AGP aperature size to 64 and 128 MB... tried updating all my drivers... tried dumbing down the detail all the way... not sure where else to go. It's totally frustrating, though, having just bought the game and not being able to play past the intro level! Has anyone got any solutions or ideas?
