I just bought the game today and when I tried to install it, it said that it couldnt find data3.cad or somethin like that. Anyway, after reading a post on the tech help forum, I was able to get the problem down to just the file x_level3. For some reason, it will not totally copy off the cd. Could someone please send the file to sande@suscom-maine.net (my e-mail is acting really wierd so i've got to use my mom's). If you need proof that I do not have a warez copy, i will be more than happy to give details specific to manual or I could scan my recipt. Thank you.

Go back to the store and swap the game for a new one.

I'm sorry, but it just doesn't work that way. The number you gave was the product UPC code (had to look at my box). Also x_level 3 is a 100 meg file images/icons/smile.gif
I'd like to help you, but this just isn't something that is done. Just take it back tomorrow?
Sorry you had trouble installing the game.

Don't take the game back to store... I can't beleive how anyone can suggest that before tweaking your Windows a little.
Just go here and check my post.

If that doesn't help, then go back to store.
Shame on you George... those installation "missing *.cab -file" -messages are very usual when the installshield folder is filled with crap...

Its not like it costs you to replace it (well, other than for gas/bus fare). Lighten up! images/icons/wink.gif

Most of these install problems seem to be due to people installing from CD-RW or DVD drives.
Eraser_007 are you trying to install from one of these types of drives?

I cleaned up my 'windows install' folder; even tried to install Max Payne from HD. Once it got all the way up to 99% installed; then i got the blasted 'insert disk0' message again. Here's the shitty part: my wife bought the game for me and threw out the receipt, so I can't exchange it at Best Buy. Do you think the publisher will exchange for a new copy?? Or does someone have a solution on how to install the game? Thanks

Eyetooth, not sure if this will work, but give it a try:
When installing the game, when it gets to 99% I presume that any installed files are deleted. If this is the case, when you get the error message, go into windows explorer and copy the Max Payne folder to somewhere. Then click on on the error message, thus deleting the original max payne folder. Now copy back the folder to c:\program files\max payne
It might work but it might not. In theory is should cos you are getting the error message right at the end. The only problem I can think of is that the registry entires might not be entered. If this is the case, you might need to look at a way of inserting these manually!
