when I start out playing, the game runs good but it slows down the longer I play. Anyone know what is wrong?

It's pretty difficult to tell without more info - like what's going on, system specs, etc.

Did you check http://www.maxpayne.com/support/index.html ?

When I start the game runs smooth but after a while it starts to freeze up for a second and the it will unfreeze as time goes on it will do this more and more untill the game is unplayable. Afterwords my computer runs slower also.

Specs:
Windows Me,
Pentium 3 1.0 GH,
GeForce2 MX,
128.0 MB Ram

Thanks

I've been having the same problem with Max Payne, though I've experienced it before on multiple games (Quake, Hitman, Giants, etc.). I'm running:

Gateway 933
Nvidia GTS
SB Live Value
128 MB

I think it has something to do with the Nvidia interacting with the SB Live? Regardless, try going to Multimedia in your control panel and turn down the audio hardware acceleration. This usually fixes it for me, but the sound experience drops a lot.

Put in another 128 stick.
Win ME is not the best OS for gaming.
The MX card is a bit slow for this kind of game.

Are you over clocking? if you are , stop it.

Dont use things like cache man, if you are useing so called enhancing progs, dont bother, they all bite and suck up memory.

Set Vmem to 2.5x your system memory.

Shut down ALL running progs, just keep Explorer running.

Set your comp up as a network server instead of a home desktop.

Dissable system restore for ME.

Install DX8.0a.

In the end though, you do indeed have a sweet rig but your card is slowing down your games.
