I'm trying to play multiplayer with high res, but I've no idea how, and everywhere I go there is no info on it x.x. I've tried a few things but I honestly don't know what I am doing.

Can anyone help? o.o

I use dukester 1.51

You have to use Eduke32 on DukesterX and rename it to Duke3D.exe so it thinks its the JonoF port, Providing you have the HRP in the autoload folder it should work.

I know there was at a time a thread on multiplayer. . .I can't find it without searching in the search box (I scrolled through the threads).

eduke32 doesn;t show up as a port on dukester, it only shows jfduke and rancidmeat x.x plus the main link to downloading dukonnector seems to have turned into spam.

Did you even read what I said man? I said you had to rename eduke32 to Duke3d.exe

How do I get HRP using the RancidMeat port? on dukester X when I try to join, it says everyone is using that port, so I shall too, but I can't get HRP x.x

I'm pretty sure HRP doesn't work with rancidmeant.

You cant. You have to follow the commanders instructions. Only Eduke32 supports the HRP. I dont reccomend playing online with the HRP though because its generally really laggy. Unless you have a high bandwidth connection and a really good computer to boot.

Normaly, JFDuke3D can also support it.

Rancidmeat and xDuke don't support it cause they're in 16bits quality maximum, and HRP need 32bits.

JFDuke in its current released state cannot support the latest release of the HRP.

In DX options select the duke3d.exe of eduke32, it's simple, I played last night with it in DX.

this game is incredibly problematic x.x I'm now trying to play multiplayer using DukesterX. when the game starts and the MSDOS window shows up, the window closes and nothing happens. what am I doing wrong now? is it truly possible that DNForever may come out before I get to play this multiplayer?

The only way to play multiplayer game successfully is to create a dedicated HiRES pack that those who want to play in multiplayer will have to use. Why?

If we create a HiresNET or MultiHRP or HRmultiP (name it whatever you want), it should contain:
Eduke32
HRP + maphacks and Hires music
dukeplus

That way all net players will have the same versions of the above, and the only thing that they should do before playing is to add Duke3D.grp v1.5 from their retail CD.

I'm more happy with the normal graphics, I prefere the old days of playing Duke.

That's not true. The CONs are what's important.

Alot of people don't want highres music, I dont have the bandwith to download stuff I don't want. Music should allways be seperate & Duke Plus is allways updated so including that is just asking for trouble.

Are you running vista by any chance? If thats the case then that does tend to happen. I think there is a way around it but I don't know what it is because I would never install vista.
