I once used a Knoppix 5.1 live cd to recover data off of a hard drive that had a screwed up MFT.

For some reason, the cd will not work. I just burned another CD and am testing it out now, but figured i would see what type of Live CD y'all would recommend using.

I plan on hooking up the bad HD with a USB cable so i can try to access it.

From past experience, kubuntu and ubuntu didn't work and i found that Knoppix was the only one i could get working to where i could mount a drive as USB and see it.

Maybe i just didn't know the commands or whatever, but that is what i need to do.

The second burned CD seems to be working this time, but if you have others you recommend for recovering a hard drive, let a brotha know.

Use the Hiren Boot CD Recovery Options
http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd

But I Recommend you to Plug your Hard Disk to a Working Computer and use a Windows Based Tool to recover your HDD , Active@Undelete is Best Recovery Software , You can Download the Trial version or use the Free version from the Hiren BootCD

If you want to recover data or fix a computer, I would highly reccomend RIPLinux (Repair Is Possible Linux)

Works like a dream here. :)
