So I decided to play Universe At War. I had tried the demo, wasn't entirely sure about the whole thing, but when I got it for my birthday I figured I might give it a go.
I'm firing up the game, and as I am about to start the campaign a message jumps on the screen. "You are not signed in, your achievements will not be logged".
Now I'm pretty much an achievement whore, and I'll be darned if I'm missing out of this, so after a little looking around I find that it's a Games for Windows Live login that it's referring to. GFWL has to update first, before I can log in, so I try to do that, but it doesn't cooperate very well, saying it can't connect to the internet.
No big deal, I'll just download the update myself, and be done with it. It's on the games for windows site, so that was easy enough to find.
Now I updated, I fire up the game but it's still telling me I need to update, even though it's obvious it got updated (it's looking a lot more fancy for one). When I try to update through the game, it still tells me that the update failed (instantly, if that's relevant).
I tried opening the port, disabling all firewalls... but no dice.
Anyone have any experience with this?
