This game is amazingly replayable. I've just been playing the demo and it's a lot of fun. Just passed the mission actually, that mission alone is better than COD 2 as a whole. The graphics may be dated (and sometimes irks me) but it's so fun cause I can lone wolf it. Plus I have stats, and can improve them (see last shot). Also it's done by Illusion Softworks (they made Mafia), so it's a nice effort.

A couple things bug me: inventory management. I have to put med packs and other stuff in a belt pouch before I can use them, can't just hit a number and get what you want. I don't see mods for this either. It's cool you can control your walk/run speed via mouse-wheel, very handy because you can incremently change it. Prone is there too. Jumping yeah, but if you're weighed down you can't really jump. Certain things you can climb over. Overall it reminds me of IGI 2 with the big areas, but it's done much better. The AI is nice too, they'll find cover and such.

If you find a lot of replay value in the demo, I think you'll find lots to like in the full game. H&D2 has some good variety in mission locations, much more then any other WWII game I've played. The expansion is also worth grabbing if you can find it, the addition of co-op adds a ton of replay and fun..

Speaking of co-op, anyone here have H&D2 + Sabre Squadron? I'd be up for a game of co-op sometime if anyone else is interested :)

I have them, haven't played in ages. Not even sure what the newest patch is. The first H&D was a first day purchase for me, but the second coming wasn't as impressive, but still a great game.

It is a great game, so is the expansion. They should keep you busy for a good while as well.

I reckon H&D3 will be coming along when Mafia 2 is done, perhaps with a new setting.

It doesn't need a new setting, it's totally different approach to well known setting :) In my opinion the only succesfull one.

H&D3 should fix the issues they introduced in the second revision, improve graphics and physics. It would be a solid game.

I'm just starting it. I'm curious how much your stats can increase per level, might encourage me to play certain ways (i.e. I can up my stealth). The first mission is great for that, but I was spotted and decided not to care as much. Also am I right in assuming you can knockout or kill someone the right way to take their uniform as disguise? I know if you shoot 'em you can't take the uniform, presumably because it's bloody.

The first one is, and the deluxe version of it to be exact. It's great fun to this day, the visuals aren't there but it's free :) I remember having to turn down the settings to get it run on my PC back then.

Only the SS campaign is available for co-op, unless theres a mod or something I don't know about.. :( I'd love to be able to play some of H&D2's campaign in co-op. This thread made me realize that I haven't installed H&D2 on this pc yet, something I've been meaning to do.. got distracted by some newer releases. I'll dust off my copy, some MP or co-op sounds like fun :D

aww man game looks good, but in the demo, the ai was pretty ******* horrible.

One enemy soldier was trying to shoot at me, but there was a wall infront, so he kept shooting the wall. The squad mates, when one was down, they wouldnt go into cover, they'd just stand there.

Is it like that in the full game?

I don't even recall that kind of behavior in the demo. I like the AI. They'll sneak around after you, climb ladders, open doors, some arrive in groups to surprise you.

That video just reminded me how retarded the AI is in HD2 :) I think they've just copied the AI routines from the first HD.

I still have a boxed copy of this game in mint condition. :) I remember enjoying it back then, but a bug prevented me from escaping a (lenghty, I must add) mission's area after stealing some documents.

I started replaying H&D2 again, I've finished it multiple times now.. started a new game on the hardest difficulty in lone wolf mode, haven't managed to finish it on this difficulty in lone wolf mode which is harder then the normal campaign mode. :)

I managed to stealth kill 7-8 of the enemy without any alerts up until that point.. until an attack dog (that I forgot was in the area) jumps out and surprises the hell out of me :doh:
