View Full Version : How can I always "Usegoodalpha 1" and other stuff

In JFSW and SWP (SWP now my preffered choice) the console can have the command "Usegoodalpha 1" typed into it to fix some of the ugliness that happens on transparency, i like turning this on, but it's getting a bit tedious having to do it every time I start the game.

Is there any means to make the game automatically do this (and other console commands) every time I start the SWP.exe? i've poked stuff about but i cant figure out a way of doing it - but nobody ever said there was though.

Thanks

mmm never tried this before.
If there are any other commands that you find really usefull, list them and I'll add them to SWP.

That's the only one i want to somehow do every time without having to type it in, most of the others can be done via the .cfg file, it'd be good to see an option in the .cfg for this so it didnt have to be typed in. if that could not be done, it'd be ok if it could be done from the command line, because I could just make a batch file or add it to a shortcut.

Try manually adding the line usegoodalpha=1 in the .cfg to see if the setting is automactically applied at startup.

Ok try this:

[Screen Setup]
Usegoodalpha = 1

Noooo. It's a beta test release. Not a new version.

But that also cheers me up.
Now I discovered what made JFSW so crashy. I always used usegoodalpha = 1, but not in SWP... when I went to test it, bam! it stopped responding just like jfsw did, different from the crashes I had due to overheating. usegoodalpha = 0 fixed that.

True. I always like seeing new... releases. ;)

I guess that's because usegoodalpha was a test mode. EDuke32's engine improvements improved some things like that.

I've now added it to the menu.
What should it read ?
Use Good Alpha
Use Goodalpha
Usegoodalpha
UseGoodAlpha
or maybe something else ?

The 1st one would be okay.

How about:
Enhance OpenGL
or
Texture Enhance
Sounds maybe more intelligent ;)

Or... Alpha Quality = Good/Better, Low/High...
If only I knew programming I would help you to find why the good alpha is causing crashes.
