The Punisher: No Mercy

Zen Studios today announced The Punisher: No Mercy for the PlayStation 3, a game inspired by the Marvel franchise and distributed exclusively through PlayStation Network. The game is based on Unreal Engine 3 and features arena-based multiplayer action from a first-person perspective and a long list of characters, including Jigsaw, Bushwacker, Barracuda and Silver Sable. The game will also feature a single-player Story mode with exclusive artwork from Marvel artist Mike Deodato.

I didn't see a thread for this. Hell, I haven't even heard of it yet.

Why would someone even bother to produce this game? The little they've shown in the video and pics looks like every other run-of-the-mill FPS: run around warehouses, office-blocks and streets using shotguns, uzis and assault rifles to kill random bad guys and terrorist.

Sounds like hella fun!!!......

....if I hadn't done that a million times already! And the feckin' Punisher license alone is not going to magically change that old arena concept into something exciting, fresh and new.

A game in the spirit of the 2005 Punisher game would have been cool, but this new Punisher game smells like a turd with a tacked on license.

They better have something up their sleeve for this.

Yeah, I read about this in a magazine a few days ago. Playstation 3 only, online arena deathmatch only... does not continue the 2005 third person game.... fail.

Single-player is just bots, probably. Why they got the Punisher license is beyond me. It could be worth 10 bucks or something, I don't know. Probably not. :p

Yes, it looks more like a mod them a commercial game. It also looks very dated graphically for a UE3 engine powered game.

It looks like a game from the 90's. Only the enemy's animation and the higher poly count gives it away as a more recent game. NOLF2 looks more impressive.
