Having seen no updates on his site for a long time, I'm starting to be concerned. It'd be nice to know if he's well and still good.

I'm wondering if he's still with MumboJumbo after Ritual ate them up. :/

He was the last time I talked to him.

Heh... Guess since Mumbo Jumbo was gearing towards casual gaming, guess we won't see any FPS maps or games from them for quite some time. That's one reason why I was geared up with the SiN and CS:CZ scene (Ritual teamed up with Turtle Rock and Valve, if you remember) for the longest time. Guess Levelord let us down now. :(

I don't think you can say he let anyone down just because he wanted to keep his job. Maybe work there is fun for him and he enjoys it. That would be nice.

Yeah, but that's not what I was thinking... I was thinking of the REAL Levelord that we all know and love around here, that makes us some kickass maps and games that we can really appreciate, not the hum-drum corporate EA-owned (which I assume Mumbo Jumbo is really part of) Levelord who makes casual games for a living.

It's a shame not having his levels on major gaming releases anymore, but this doesn't mean he won't go back someday. But think about this: If he wanted a level designer position in the industry, he could easily get it. So maybe it's not what he wants right now.

Yeah, he could do a lot better than my phony maps. Pfft, like hell I'd do something like him. Not that I'm jealous, you understand... :D

That's exactly what's happened. He's told me he's far happier now making these small type games than he was doing big 3D shooter things.
I've not seen him professionally this happy since he first broke in with us ages ago doing Duke3D maps.
Also, he's developed a major affinity for Russia. Don't be too surprised if he up and retires there, never to be heard from again. I am not kidding that about - being quite serious.

What's he doing anyway out of curiosity? I'd be curious to know what he's been credited with since the buyout. If he's happy then good for him, that's all that really matters.

I wonder why is that... Travelling here is one thing, living - another... I guess.

Yeah, was within the last two months, but I forget when right now.

I am sure he's alright and happy! Don't worry! He was one of the greatest designers...
But to be honest, Allen Blum duke3d maps were much better IMO and he is the one i'll be missing more if he ever leaves...
So 3d Realms, stop Allen Blum if he ever tries to leave the scene, at any cost!!! Enslave him, torture him, i don't care....Just don't let him leave like Levelord!!!

He drinks vodka like water and take it. I saw this miraculous event happen before my very eyes.

Yeah, maybe a good six-pack of Yarpivo on top of that, most likely. :D

I don't believe that's happening. No worries there.

Yeah, hopefully Blum knows the technology and the level design well with today's technology, UnrealEd's far different from Build, as I have found out the hard way. Heck, I have even done a lot with the Source/Quake Technology, which is even tougher yet.

I played Duke3D over Xbox Live with him a month ago. His gamertag indicated he was in Great Britain.
Unless someone else was using his nickname.
