View Full Version : SNDMFC.DLL
Just bought MP and was looking forward to playing it but after the intro scene the load up starts and crashes back to Windows with a message that says "MP has caused an error in SNDMFC.dll. Try restarting Windows." So I restart windows and I reload the game several times and I still have the same error. I download the latest drives for my matrox card. I have the lastest build of Direct X. I also downloaded the MP update...still same error.
Can anyone help me?
System...
P3 500
Windows Me
384 MB ram
32 MB Matrox G400
Abit Be6
Soundblaster live value

This seems to be a problem with a windows system file. Try running system file checker by clicking start, run and type in "SFC"

win ME suxs go back to win 98 ME is a fluke a buggy OS
I don't want to go to the trouble of reloading 98 when XP is coming out in a couple of months. Actually so far I have found Me to be fairly stable and the blue screen of deaths have been few and far between. Of course I still can't play MP. Reason enough to switch.

i read in the paper that A LOT of crashing and i mean A LOT of crashing happenes on ME and 2000
The reason I got MP was because I did not have the net at home while waiting for a DSL connection to arrive. So this was a hard prob to fix without real access to new drivers and such.....however I have solved the problem by disabling my sound card in the system properties and all sound in MP. Sure would like to hear what is going on though. If anyone has any ideas why a soundblaster live value is doing this let me know.
Thanks for your replies.

Bern, I have the same soundcard as you. I installed MP and played it for awhile. Then I messed around with my hardware and did a complete reinstall. When I loaded MP, I got the same dll error as you. I uninstalled, loaded up the sblw9xup drivers from the Creative site...which I had running before the I did the reinstall. Now the game works fine. I'm willing to bet you're running the original drivers for your SBL. Give it try.

The error indeed comes from a crash in our game's sound system (sndmfc.dll). Try to update your sound drivers.
