Does anyone have a system where MP NEVER drops below 30fps?????
Even on the most powerful Geforce3 based rigs MP drops below 30fps when there is gun fire.....
Does anyone have a system that this never happens
If so what drivers are used etc etc..
thanks

Nope. Never 30fps. I am always in the 70+ area.
My specs:

384mb RAM
ASUS V8200 Deluxe GeForce3
ASUS Detonator 12.90
ASUS CUV4X Motherboard (BIOS 1007)

Never drops below 40fps, generally stays around 70fps. This is on an Athlon 550MHz with 256MB of Ram, GeForce2MX.
Something is seriously wrong if you don't get something like this.

I can't remember my 3DMark2001 score exactly, but it was over 5000.

Well in order to get an idea of there system you have to ask what settings do they have turned on. I mean anyone can have a constant 70fps if they are running at like 640 by 480 with 16bit color and everything on low.
With that said, looking at the systems listed I am sure that this isn't the case. But there has to be some kind of standard so everyone could test it out.

Oh, I think I use 640X480 with 32 bit, althought my screen resolution is 800X600 and the game is full screen.

Running a 1.4(ish)Gig athlon (145mhz fsb)
256mb ram
Geforce 2 GTS
Det 12.90
ALL MP settings at highest levels.
Get constant 60-70ish FPS - get over 30ish FPS on the final helicopter crash sequence.

You play at 640x480 low detail, right?

P4 1.7Ghz
Abit TH7-Raid Motherboard
512MB PC-800 RDRAM
Visiontek Geforce3
Dual Boot WinXP/98SE (run MP on 98)
12.90 video drivers
DirectX 8.0a
6692 best 3DMark score without overclocking
I run Max Payne at 1280x1024x32 with all details maxed out. I played 3 levels with the FPS gauge on and never saw it drop below 50, it stayed in the 70-100 area most of the time with only quick jumps below 60.

the real treat of max is when ou turn on the FSAA for those with a geforce3 manually set your anitaliasing to Quincunx max never looked so pretty. and you 3dmark 2001 score predator what setting do you have it on?
i have a 1.33g athlon mobo Asus a7v133 with Raid-0,512 pc133,2 40gig maxtor hardrive on Raid-0,geforce 3 (vision tek) on 12.41 detonators .SBlive 5.1. i play max like predator on 1280x1024x32 anisotropic filtering, everything on high i average 85 to 90 in that range. with Quincunx antialiasing on i get 45 FPS but my god it looks beyond this world

I'm usually in the seventies for FPS.
I have:
AMD Athlon 1.35 GHz
256 MB DDR RAM (so it's actually 512 MB RAM)
40X CD ROM/DVD Drive
Visiontek GeForce 3
I always play with 4 samples of antialiasing. It's so funny - games actually run faster when I have FSAA turned on!

Add "-developerkeys" to the command line in your shortcut (without the quotes). Then hit F11 when you want to see fps.

Yeah, Max definitely looks great with FSAA enabled. I get an average of 50-60FPS with Quincunx FSAA enabled. I run 3DMark 2001 on the default setting for benchmarking.

No true at all. DDR means Double Data Rate, which is refering to the speed of your memory, it has no effect on the amount of data it can hold.

My MP settings...ALL HIGH...hardware T&L...anisotropic...all enable...triple screen buffer...640x480 + 4xFSAA >> above 60+FPS...no matter what...
My gaming machine specs...
AMD 1.33gzh TB
512 DDR sdram
Detonator 12.9
Dx 8.0a
Asus v7700 64 ddr GeForce GTS2 pro
WinME/Win2kPro/RedHat 7.1 (win2k pro runs a little slower & MaxP can't be played under any *nix)
But all my directX based games runs slower than the openGL one images/icons/frown.gif
