Gamepad help

A friend gave me an old Duke Nukem game and for the PC and I have been using it with the keyboard. I went and bought a Philips gamepad but the game wont recognize it. I did a test for game controlers on the control panel and it appears that everythings working but duke wont recognize it. Can someone help

You need a gameport controller, no USB device will work.

Thank you for your help. I am a real rookie at this so I will assume that I would have to install a game controller card in my pc and that I may not find the type of controller that I want. Something similar to what I use on my xbox

That's not true. There are plenty of applications and custom drivers that will let a USB device show up as an old gameport based controller.

Use Xpadder. Allows you to play ANY PC game with ANY control pad.

I was not aware abuot such utils, I'll have to look into them :)
