Hello,
My map is making lots of progress, and currently i'm adding sound effects to the map to make it more athmospheric.
I've run into a small problem though : I don't know all the numbers for the sound effects ._. So far I've got all the sounds i put in now from looking at the DN3D standard maps, but this is rather annoying and I don't know where every sound was used.
The DEF.con also has this rather neet list of sound effects, but it has rather generic names (even containing 'generic ambience' like 10 times -.-) and no way to check if it can be used ambient or not. The only way to test how each sound sounds and if it can be used ambiently is to load up a map to test. (I'm obviously not referring to the really obvious things like 'Jetpack on' and 'Octa pain' and the like)
Sooo i was wondering, is there some big list i'm missing out where it goes in a little more detail how each sound sounds and if it can be used ambiently or not?(Or even better, a place where I can preview the soundfiles so I can check myself?) The EDuke32 wiki is really empty, and Mapster32 has no such list in F1.
Or am I just being lazy and do i have to learn all the sounds by experimenting?
Thanks in advance :)
Update I:
So I found another much better explained list in the USER.con, but this one lacks the reference as to what soundbit belongs to which lotag number. I can combine them myself but if someone knows a list which already did this feel free to post.
I still can't really see what I can use as ambient sound and not in the User.con either, but I'm guessing I can atleast use the ones under the 'ambience city sounds' and 'Ambience sounds'
Update II:
Yeah I think I solved it. Huzzah. Found a nice text file at http://browse.files.filefront.com/Duke+Nukem+3D/;182491;/browsefiles.html , incase anyone else wondered (probably not). Could something like this be incooperated into the Mapster32 help?
Feel kinda silly for posting this thread and then solving it myself in the first post tho
