System:
ABit KG7-RAID (RAID disabled in BIOS)
1GB ECC Reg PC2100
Athlon 1.4GHz
Asus v8200 (Tried 12.xx and 14.xx)
everything looks VERY choppy, Maxs movement in particular is VERY bad, but I am getting 50fps+ showing while this is happening.
Any ideas?

How do you check to see how many FPS your are getting during the game? I see people sposting different numbers and would like to find out for myself what I'm getting. I do have 3dmark2001. Is this where you are getting your results?

same problem I was having, take out 512mb of ram and I will bet you that fixes your problem.
I put in 768mb ECC pc/133 from 512 and the same thing happened, as soon as I yanked out 256mb of ram it went back to normal. Try it and let me know eh? This looks to be a bug with Max that should be addressed.

To see how many frames you're getting, start the game in developer mode, bring down the console (F12) and type "showfps" without the quotes. Press F12 twice, then press F11. Voila. images/icons/smile.gif

Quick question here:
Why are you guys going with ECC ram? You only need that for systems where data integrity is of the utmost importance (ie servers etc). It's pretty much useless in home computers, and actually degrades performance.

Well, I don't know about you.....but I beleive anything I do is of the utmost importance that it doesn't get corrupted.. images/icons/rolleyes.gif
Went DDR ECC for integrety and so that I didn't have to upgrade RAM again when I go dual Athlon in a month or 2.

First you are correct ECC does shit for a home system. The average computer is raken down by power outages more often then single bit RAM errors that ECC could correct.
However good luck finding nonECC registered PC2100 RAM for that KG7. Last I checked Crucial doesn't make it.
Gorvi: I assume this is in 2000/XP if you have that much RAM. If not then it could be related to the disk cache hack to allow 9x to go over 512MB. You may want to make sure it was done correctly.
Other then that try the new D4s. They really improved my play under XP.

Got the D4's...no dice.
Running WinXP.....
As for power probs....thats why I have a 1000 Va Compaq UPS and 550W Enermax PSU. I run 24/7 without crashes.
