http://www.gamepolitics.com/2009/02/03/guv-declares-quotentertainment-software-dayquot-texasGov. Rick Perry (R, at left) has proclaimed today "Entertainment Software Day" in Texas.

The declaration is apparently the first of its kind in the United States.

In addition, both chambers of the Texas legislature have passed resolutions recognizing the video game industry's contributions to the Lone Star State. Those resolutions were sponsored by State Sen. Bob Duell (R) and Rep. Dawnna Dukes (D), both of whom have worked on financial incentives for Texas game developers in the past.
So what do you guys think? :o Is 3DR going to do anything for the holiday, which took place yesterday?

"I'm too old to play games and am losing interest in them yet I keep posting news about them."

hmm....so they declare the day the music died a different holiday? Buddy Holly will haunt that man.

However, I do see this as mildly silly but at the same time, it is certainly a good thing for the business which is a great thing for Texas where many game companies reside.

While it may seem a little silly, at the same time, the gaming industry deserves to be acknowleged for advances in software/hardware technology and billions of dollars made. And not to mention, giving us kick ass entertainment. :D

You can't steal Winter-een-mas (http://www.wintereenmas.com/)!! It belongs to the people!!

Don't need no Texan Governor to decide when I celebrate games... web-comic writers know what they're talking about ;)
(Half of that sentence is ironic, in case you didn't see that)

Silly.

Yeah, they don't seem to be celebrating any Iron sight specific games, just games in general. I mean WTF is up with that? :(

If we had this here, it'll become my new christmas, easter and birthday combined.
However, it wouldn't beat a "Blow Job Day".
