I had problems with a machine similar to this.
Make sure you don't have onboard sound card stuff going at the same time as your Sound Blaster is. That caused a lot of problems for me.

I get that sometimees after I quit the game and start it again. The reboot fixes it though.

I have an onboard soundcard, but it's already shut off...I've tried to play the game like 5 times and each time it just went black...:/ If the full game is like this, it's unplayable for me...

Can someone help me? I need to play the game more before I decide to buy it..but I can't.
I got to the subway and it crashed and now all I get is that black screen.

Turn the sound off, run the game, quit, and go back. That solved the problem for me when I had it.
Also, are your sound card and video card sharing an IRQ?

ok, I was playing the demo fine a few days ago..now when I go to click play...before the game even loads I get a black screen, I can move the mouse still, but the only way to exit the black screen is to manually reset the computer.
My system is fully updated. My specs:
amd 700
128 ram
voodoo 3 2000
sound blaster 16 live
