I installed the new Detonator 21.81 drivers for my GeForce 3, and it's caused an odd glitch in Max.

The smoke effects now have a wierd 'banded' look to them; almost a cartoony look. The edges of the smoke are no longer soft and blurred, but very sharp and defined. It's very noticable when the sawed-off is fired, as it generates a large plume of smoke.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm running in 1024 x 768 x 32 with 32-bit textures. I'd just switch back to my old drivers, but the 21.81 drivers give me a small but noticable performance boost. I've tried several times, making sure Anti-virus is off, downloading from different sites, and manually uninstalling my old drivers before installing the new ones.

I'm certain I'm not just imagining this; I reinstalled the 12.90 drivers, and the smoke is back to normal. But as I said, I'd like to keep the performance boost with the new drivers if possible.

Thanks for any help.

I have having problems with that new driver to. The dirver gave me huge performance boost thought. I am running a Geforce3 Visiontek. Before the new drivers I scored only 5417. With the new drivers I scored 6492. Max Payne runs extremely slow with the new drivers. I would have not liked the game if I had only used that new driver. Has anyone else had the same problem?
