Freezing during dream sequence

I've played through the game with no problems until I reached the second dream sequence when you have to walk on the red rails over the darkness. When I die, I attempt to hit the quick reload. The game transition screen appears and begins to load. The problem here is that it never stops loading. I can't exit nor can I reboot. The only thing I can do is kill the power and start again. This happens over and over to no end. Anybody know how to fix this?
