What is this error message?

Exception in engineInit: X_InputDeviceException: Couldn't SetDataFormat (Mouse)

This is the error i get, i just bought mp the other day, patched it with the update, and now i cant play it images/icons/frown.gif

im running win2k sp2 & my mouse is a trust dual scroll.

can i fix this?

oh yer, it comes up a few secs into the maxpayne loading screen, the intro bit runs fine, but i get dumped back to my desktop on the loading screen with this error msg

Have a look in your Control Panel/Mouse options if there's anything you could disable. Might be under the "Mouse Properties/Hardware/Properties" or so.

What kind of a mouse is it? Number of buttons, wheels etc? If the problem persists, please send your "dxdiag" information to mpbugs@remedy.fi

for anyone elses information. to fix this, you can go into device manager from the control panel, and select the mouse, goto properties, update driver, go to the all devices list, and select the standard ps/2 mouse. this will fix the problem, and wont affect other games, all buttons still work
