Lockups are starting to piss me off!

WTF is up with this damn game. I get lockups ****in galore. I see no response from anyone except users. No techs working on shit. I payed 53 dollars for this damn game and I dont expect it to lock up every time I turn around. New maps, in scenes, at random it doesnt matter when or where or how it just locks up for no damn reason. I have to restart and reboot wich only takes about 30 secs but still every 5 - 10 - 15 mins max payne has to take a 30 rest? somone please fix this shit and put out a patch. thats what you tech ppl get paid for right!~!!!!!

I know how u feel man, I get the same problem- over and over. And when I exit the game, it freezes as well. I have a Geforce MX 200, 1.4 Ghz AMD, and 384 mgs RAM. Someone plz make a patch or help us or somethin; its pissin me off too

You guys are lucky. I havent even gotten to play the damn game yet. Its been 3 days since purchase and I still get the R_Memory File error. I've updated the drivers for everything except windows Me and even called Tech support twice. The final response? "Well, all the things we mentioned Usually fix that problem by now". And they sent me a slightly updated faq. This is what I payed 50+ dollars for? How does this get by their "extensive testing?". How do I know more about the technical issues around the game then the tech support rep I talked too? Hopefully I'll get this game running soon.

Well, dude- I know why you are having problems. First, your processor is slow as crap; its not even the minimum requirments. Second, you are running windows ME- personally, I think that OS has still got bugs in it. I just bought a new computer, but got windows 98 cause its the most reliable

Also, if you have it on anything but 16 bit color, bilinear, and everything on low, it wil have problems because your video card needs help too images/icons/smile.gif

Im getting the same problem with regards the game

Wont list the rest of the components but I have the latest drivers for everything else in my computer dx8a etc etc. This lock up has happened on Windows 98, ME and 2000. I have tried the suggested fixes from the forums here and none of them work.

Now for the makers to claim there is nothing wrong its beyond me. There is a serious bug somewhere in this game and to expect the people who bought the game to put up with it is a joke.

Lets hope its fixed soon as this problem is ruining an amazing game.

as i mentioned in a previous post. i used to have this problem exactly as you guys describe. i managed to solve it by updating my geforce2 mx to the latest detonator XP drivers from www.nvidia.com (http://www.nvidia.com)
try that first, if it still doesn't work then it could be due to the soundcard giving problems since the picture freezes and the sound loops. insert the soundcard in a diff PCI slot and reinstall the drivers, this may solve some hardware conflict.

I have a completely clean install at the moment as a previous install on win2k went mad on me. Every driver i have for the soundcard, gfx card etc etc is the latest ones. So it cant be where my sound card is sitting.

EVERY time I exit the game-- PC locks up, can't even Ctl/Alt/Del, have to power the machine off. Then machine runs scandisk etc. This is NOT good for my machine!!!!! I built a new PC just to play this DAMN game!!! Help!!!! K7VZA Mainboard, Athlon 1.0 Ghz Processor 200 FSB, NVidia 32MB Video, 256 MB RAM, 5400 RPM Ultra DMA HD. It's not the FASTEST machine around, but I wouldn't expect my hardware to be the cause of these problems. All drivers are most current. Developers better get a fix out soon, or my drive is gonna get corrupted from all the shut-downs!!

For the problem when exiting the game, READ THE GOD DAMN FAQ, the answer is in there.

What the point in asking for help if your not prepared to seek help.

Hint:
Turn off hardwrae acceleration for the sound card.

Also, dont blame remedy for this problem. I beleive its a problem with DirectX and microsoft leaving the Debug mode on.
