I have the exact same problem. Is the fatal error a blue screen??

I also have a geForce 256 but i got 4.12.1.0366 driver. dunno what that is.

I got what the blue screen says in the topic
"part one chapter 2: lockups or or reboots my computer"

It does exactly the same thing. cant get Ne further than the 5th bad guy on the subway level. Roscoe. I managed to do the house using qsaves every 5 secs.

Im dl ing the new detonator drivers now for thre 256 and others.

Could some one tell me whats wrong

I think I have found the solution for this problem: It's a problem with the sound card.Just lower the sound acceleration in DxDiag (start>run>dxdiag). My game works perfectly now but the sound is not so good.
Hope it can helps you

Hi,I have a "little" problem in Max Payne.
I can't play it for longer than a minute cos the game crashes to a "Fatal Error".Sometimes it directly restarts my computer. It usually happens when I perform an action(firing the gun or opening a door).I have sent a mail to the technical support.Their answer was a simple copy of the FAQ(the same as the one in the read me file)...thanks guys!!
Here are the specs of my PC:
OS: Win 98 SE
P III 650 Mhz
128 RAM
3D Prophet SE - GeForce 256 (drivers 12.41)
DirectX 8

PLEASE help me to resolve this f****** problem.
You can also contact me on chaloupecky@hotmail.com
Thanks.

Thank you so much. It worked as the driver had never been certified by Micro Soft. thanx.
