Max payne rocks but the lag and freezing make it kinda bad please help.
Max payne has got to be one of the best games ever but the problems are pretty bad lagging all the time with my radeon 32mb pci card plus cpu crashing while playing. please help. images/icons/mad.gif
Why do you use a PCI videocard, this is certainly not optimal for performance as it is way slower than AGP.
as for removing memory, unless you have more than 512 MB, there is no need to.

I only can use pci cards i dont have a AGP slot =( i wish i did or else i would have got a better card =( anyways can ya help me?
Since you have a 533 Mhz CPU it is prolly a celeron, not a full P2, wich has a lower FSB than most other systems (you got 66Mhz, others have 100Mhz 133Mhz up till 400Mhz) wich does not help, the pci videocard is a lot slower, I would suggest that you run 3dmark2001 and look at that score. If it is over 900 points you should be able to play the game, maybe on very low settings, but it should run decent then.
Look to see if all your hardware is propperly configured, no conflicts etc..., you could even try to defragment your system.
If it lags, does that happen because the HD is working, or some other reason you can describe.
Some more info off your system wouls be nice, ass detailed as possible, and what drivers you use.

You need to give a little more info, such as what driver you're using. I ran it on the 7153 leaked beta drivers, though I hear the 7115 official betas work as well. I have heard of problems with the 7075 official supported drivers. I played this game just fine on a Radeon 32Mb SDR which has the identical engine and memory to yours. It is an AGP card, however, and I also have a much faster processor, so that helped. I had good frame rates at 1024x768, with everything but detail textures on high. Detail textures caused a big hit in frame rates, and to tell the truth I could barely see any difference in the quality (I even did a couple of screen caps and compared them side by side).
I also want to suggest going to the forums at www.rage3d.com. (http://www.rage3d.com.) It is an ATI specific site and sometimes people there have a better idea of what to do when you have problems with a Radeon (or any of the older cards).
