Has anyone come up with a "working" fix for that Invalid R_memfile error? Called the tech line and they were not too much help. Already tried the the techniques in the faqs. Still haven't played the damn game!! images/icons/mad.gif

Try:
1) Uninstall the game, and delete the max payne folder
2) Delete the c:\windows\temp folder.
3) Click start, run and type in msconfig. Click the startup tab and untick everything in the list except loadpowerprofile, scanregistry, system tray and task monitor and restart your computer
4) Goto your CD-Rom properties and disable DMA
5) Right click my computer, select properties, performance, file system, cdrom, lower the read ahead optimisation to no read ahead and lower supplemental cache size.
6) Reinstall the game to the defualt directory.
If you still get the problem, copy the contents of the CD to the hard disk and then install the game

No good. Tried that and I still get the same error before it loads the first level. Tech support said that there was probably a problem in copying the level files...but I've tried copying them straight from the cd AND installing off of the hard drive. I'm almost about to give up and return the game...any ideas? Or should I bug tech support again? images/icons/confused.gif
Can you believe they even told me to uninstall Neroburningrom?
