Lockup on quickload or after death

Ok when i quickload while walking on valkyrie induced blood trails in chap 3 my comp freezes up completly after the the loading bar fills up, this pisses me off hardcore, i am running a 1.2 gig athlon with 256 ram and a voodoo 3000 at the lowest resolution so i dont understand why its still doing this
