Is there any hope for this?

I only recently figured out how to make skyboxes. I've been trying to create new boxes with a particular texture in photoshop, but thusfar everything I've made has been ugly as hell. This could be happening for one of two reasons

A) It simply can't be done given the dimensions it gets extracted in

B) I only recently got photoshop, hardly know how to use it, and worse still never really had any desire to know how to use it.

So is there anyone out there more comprable with this image editing stuff that wouldn't mind hacking/slashing into something presentable? (If it can be done)

There are ways to create skyboxes, but a flat texture is very hard to translate into a 3d plane. I had to resort to some interesting hacks when I converted the LA night textures to skybox.

anyway, there are tutorials out there, but it involves using additional software, and having images that are a little more specialized.

For starters, here's one that uses Blender (http://www.blender.org/)

The landscape is the easy part to do, but creating the fisheye sky might pose an interesting challenge.

This actually came in hady when I made the LA night skybox, I generated the clouds without the terrain, and pasted them into the skybox

And finally, there's Skypaint (http://www.skypaint.com/):

This may actually be the the tool you need, I have no experience with it, and it may involve using some of the above methods to get the results you want.
