Looks like a great "Tower Defense" game. The trailer is pretty cool as well. Check it out:

I got the email from Popcap yesterday and watched the trailer. Funny stuff. Love the song. I always give Popcap games a try.
Undead dolphin. What more do you need in a game?

That looks like the single most brilliant thing ever made.
Popcap games are usually a lot of fun, so I'm sure be checking this out when it arrives.

I played last night.
Very addictive.
Requires alot of forethought. You can only have so many slots for your plants, so you have to pick which plants are going to help.
You also have to sacrifice ground space to farm sun, so you can buy bigger and better plants.

I've been happily wasting my day playing this. Its so much fun and very addictive. Its pretty funny as well, so many little zombie jokes and silly little bits. The graphics are cute and the sounds funny. The zombie and various plants are all great and nicely made. It is a lot more varied than previous Popcap games, with a fair amount of mini games chucked in (like a whack-a-zombie game and zombie bowling).

I played the demo and thought it was boring as hell. :(

The first few levels are. But as you go along it gets much tougher.
The night time levels is where the difficulty ramps up. Your only source of Sun is by planting Sun giving plants, there are tombstones that take up space and spawn zombies at the end.

PopCap + Plants + Zombies... rare combo...
Oh, fiddlesticks. I downloaded this last night and forgot about it.
I got as far as I could go in the trial version. A fun little game. I can see where it could become repetitive, but there is a pretty wide variety of seeds (with a whole lot that have not been revealed in the trial) and some intimidating-looking zombies coming up (I don't want to have to deal with the one on the riding lawnmower). I like it that just when a location is becoming stale, things are changed up with day/night or weather conditions, or a move to a different place. I'm going to get the full game.

The thing I didn't like about the game is the multiple lines of zombies. It's not like tower defence where you can make a path you just pretty much end up mkaing 5 identical lines of the same plants. At least in the trial.

I'm stuck on 3 of the mini games:
Zombotany 2, Zombie Be Nimble, and the Bobsled one.

I got the Zombotany 2 one, but I can't get the pogostick one to an end. It feels like you have to have just the right amount of luck with where the zombies come from to make it through. Not fun.
The Zen garden makes up for those 3 annoying gamemodes though :p

Tall-nuts, Cabage-pults and the plant pots are all you really need (If it drags on long enough, Melon-pults). Also, the rake from the shop, as well as the roof cleaners are a big help.

Aaah! I got it now! I found the trick (for me) was setting up tallnuts first, before any defense. They give you a huge time bonus to set up defenses. In the beginning you can really steer your resources to where you'll need 'em most. The roof cleaners are a main buffer. As long as there's a roof cleaner on a certain line, you can save the tallnut for another line.
Now all I've got left is the 'last stand' and the bobsled one! :D

I played the demo last night. I'm definitely getting this one.
@Rider: If you put those purple chomper plants just behind the tallnuts, they will attack and eat a zombie attacking the tallnut and still be protected.

Last stand isn't hard.
Tall nuts, repeaters, the upgrade to the repeater, the flaming tree stump, sunflowers, double sunflowers, lily pads, those aquatic vine creatures, and the corn-pults are what I used. And it worked pretty much flawlessly.
If you buy it through Steam, do you have to launch Steam to play it, or is it still standalone?

You need to launch Steam to play it. Beats paying twice the price for it :D
That's true. I've just had some memory problems lately and would prefer to not have the overhead. I need to download the demo through Steam and see how it performs. It'll probably be okay.
Thanks for the info.

I finished it earlier today. This game has lots of replay value. It's going to take me many passes through the game before I can buy all the upgrades and stuff. Plus the minigames are a fun diversion.
