Forgotten pieces of story?

Hey all, I'm playing through Max Payne again, and I'm a bit tired so if this part is resolved in any way, please tell me!

In the part where I'm looking for the Charon ship, you find the sniper rifle with a briefcase full of cash with a letter addressed to the Mayor from Rico Muerte (spelling?) Anyway, this might be a bit of story that leads onto the sequal..but I can't think of a way it would end up..It has to be something for them to draw up a whole graphic novel for it..

Well, I think you've misinterpreted it there.

The piece of paper seemed to be a death threat in the same vein Punchinello sent to Lupino. I believe the Mayor was Rico's target (Max mentions that it looks like a "hit" message, but not from the Mafia, since it was too short and cold. Also, Nicole Horne's voice reads it), the sniper rifle was the means (duh) and the money was payment for the deed (half now, half on completion or something like that).

I might be wrong too, but that's how it appeared to me.

Seriously, I never got that novel sequnce myself. Thanks for the explanation, Joker. The story in MP is great -- I keep discovering these twists every now and then.

Nicole Horn wanted the Mayor of NY dead. Remember in the begining of the game when Max is listening to the radio, and it has the Mayor talking about how Valkyr is a threat and they are taking drastic actions to eliminate it? If the Mayor stopped Valkyr, then Nicole Horn would be out of business, so she hired the Mafia to assassinate the Mayor. Rico Muerte was supposed to do it, but Max owned his ass before he got the chance to. images/icons/smile.gif
