I need help - please

I have a P4 1.7, 383ram, gforce mx 64mb, all the new drivers & patches and still can not run MR PAYNE at anything higher than medium setting!!
My FPS fall as soon as i higher the details from medium!
Plz help as this is drivin me mad images/icons/wink.gif Thx

If you want better performance, you should have bought a decent videocard, you got a great CPU, but the videocard is holding your system back.

With some new drivers and some tweaking you might get some better results, but your graphicscard is severely bandwith limited due to memory restrictions.

That would be a gforce 2 mx 64mb! I thought this was ok?

The problem with MX cards is that they have real bad memory, maybe a lot of it, but half the bandwidth of a standard GF2 with ddr memory. And it has been crippeld in a few more ways.

Also make sure that AA is off in your display config, as this can slow you really down. It tends to get set to on in certain drivers, so you have to manually turn it off.

I know that GF2 PRO/ULTRA & GF3 cards are more expensive than MX cards, but there is a reason, performance. If you can afford it, avoid MX cards, otherwise try keeping your settings modest.

You can get a MX with DDR RAM; I have one. And I can run everything on high, 32 bit color, and trilinear. But antialiasing slows it down a lot
