Darkness problems

Hi
1.I have this darkness problem too!!!
What can I do?
Here my comp.:
MB CHAINTECH 60JV2 INTEL815 FCPGA ATX
PIII-800/133Mhz
256.0MB RAM
Wind. ME
ATI rage pro mobility agp 8MB(=not enough!?)

2.I have problems to install the official MP1-01Patch!
I get the following message:
FILE UPDATE ERROR
Setup could not update the file:Max Payne.exe
Make sure the file isn`t in use.
Please close all open programs and try running setup again.

What to do!!!???
