I would advise everyone to decide against donating to savedukenukem.com until we hear from George or Scott on the matter. This could just be a guy trying to take advantage of the situation at 3DR to scam people.

I agree: Not a good idea to donate to anything just yet.
If anything is endorsed by the higher ups I'll donate all the money I have but with third parties there is no way of telling what's what.

I agree; "do not donate"
But I don't think he is an evil guy

Just so you know the site itself states it is not affiliated with 3D Realms or Take 2.

If George or Scott will take time to confirm that what that guy is doing on that site is true to it's cause, I think they will also have time to confirm if 3drealms is going bye bye and especially if Duke Nukem Forever is going to die or to be released. So that kind of makes it useless for that guy on savedukenukem.com because if either Scott or George confirm something, both ways it will mean the end of that site as the game will either release naturally or will not get released at all no matter what sum of money they get.
Unless they actually consider a fundraiser to be a last backup plan, which let me say I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt is the case for such people behind such a big and serious company like 3drealms is or was lol, then that site is pointless and any money it will make will be for no cause.

No, I'm just not an idiot. If 3DR wanted the community to help them they would ask us them selfs and post a statement on the website here. NEVER trust something from another website. Period

I'm not surprised someone is doing this. Hell, I almost did the same thing. Almost registered the same domain and everything. Posted a thread about it here but it got rejected. :-P

May 12, 2009: OK, I just learned this morning that the company that owns the rights to publish DNF rejected a $30MM offer. As optimistic as I am about raising money, I think that's just a bit out of our grasp...unless Bill Gates wants to help us out. Stay tuned for more info and updates.
donations were taken down

If they thought the game wasn't going to be released, they would sell the rights to publish it rite? So why reject $30MM ?
Unless this guy is full of crap.

Might be because 3D Realms developer(s) pride to rather not to release and finish DNF than give rights to Take Two, finish DNF and then release it.

Oh man oh man oh man! That's $400 I'm never going to see again! :(
Why do people think Bill Gates is the only human on the planet who can cough up 30 million?

Why the hell would you give your money away like that without doing research and no official word has come from the man himself George Broussard? I suppose you deserve it to learn the lesson

Instead of making a site with donations why did not someone create a web site with estimated sales of 3d realms old products???
For example, encourage fans into buying their products and keep track of the new sales ( users will announce their purchases). In that way it would be legal and users could have an estimation of the DNF funding progress.
Edit: Steve i don't believe that you fall for that!! You are lying again aren't you?? :)

Just the mere fact that the guy behind savedukenukem.com hasn't replied here to strengthen his case should say smth. A true fan would track these forums 24/7 since "the day".
Watch out for this one, smells scam long way. ;)

Well the donation links are gone until they can get in touch with 3DR about it...so maybe.?.? If George can come here and validate the site, then I'm all down for donating.

Hell, i've seen lots of suckier games released. Release as is and fix the bugs in a patch. No biggie. Or split it up into 3 parts, 10 levels each, one part a year....

Right, I just sold off one of my kidneys and donated the proceeds to savedukenukem.com.
What I would like to know is, how I should go about getting a receipt, for tax purposes. I hear that most charitable donations are tax-deductible.
