System:
Win2k Pro
Athlon 500 w/ AMD 751 Chipset (MSI 6167 mobo)
196 mb sdram
40 gig ibm 7200rpm hd
64mb 3d ProphetII pro (GeForce2 Pro 64mb)
SoundBlaster Live! Value
?? 32x cd-rom
I know its not the best system, but it runs quake3 great and I think it should at least run max payne playably.
The problem is this.
The game loads just fine, the intro movie runs and then I get the menu, on the menu the mouse is jumpy, but I can still use it and bind all my keys, etc. Then if I go into tutorial it will load and show a man (max??) standing in an ally in the distance, it starts to move it and says "This is a breif tutorial . . ." in the top left, then cuts back to the front and keeps looping, never getting beyone the overhanging wires (sound works fine I think).
If I try to go to new game I get a 16:9 (or so) window that flashes white a couple of times while I here the lady talking about shots fired, etc. Other than the blinking lights no other video, and that eventually stops, and after max speaks, nothing.
Hitting pause at any time brings up the pause screen so it hasn't locked up, and I can always escape to menu.
If I go into -developer mode I get the following errors.
In tutorial:
Warning: Material '[various]'in category 'graffiti' has sorting enabled
In the game: Same as above, and then
Dynamic object ::Start::cl_y.do: Animation " " to "o" is not continuous path!
I have tried reinstalling, updating to nividia's newest official drivers, lowering directx sound acceleration, running in the lowest possible settings, and many other fixes I've read about, nothing has had any change, though the 5 seconds of the tutorial look alot worse in the bad settings.
I would love to here anything that you can think of that could possibly help with this problem, even if it's obvious I may have overlooked it.
