I get about 20-35 FPS when running MP, and it goes down to 10 in some parts with a lot of stuff happining.
This is in 800x600 32bit with high settings (trilinear filtering)
1024x768 32bit runs very very similar images/icons/smile.gif

THis is my setup:

amd 1400
256DDR
geforce2 mx400 64MD sdr (AGP)
30 gig HD

My 3dmark scores are round 5450. I haven't loaded the detonator drivers yet.
If and when I do, will there be an increase in performance, or should I be a good ol' boy and lower my settings abit or alot? Or is 20-30 frames good enough- I am currently on CHap II level 2

thx

With the card that you have, you should lower some stuff, because it could even get worse performance wise.

The MX is a nice budget card, but it laks in the speed and memory bandwith departement. Try decreasing the texure detail, as this makes a significant improvement in speed.

I still wonder why people buy a top line CPU with some crap piece of videocard, but hey, that's my opinion.

You're playing the game with default drivers? Unless you're on XP, they really really suck. Picking up the D4s should help a good bit.

I've played Max Payne on a Duron 1Ghz w/ MX. It runs nicely at 1024, though bring out the Mac10 and it lags a little. I'd say tweak the drivers.

I've loaded the latest drivers, including the detonator drivers, and I'm getting about 40 fps max - what is the normal playing speed?

I don't think you can speak of normal speed, there are to much different configurations out there, that give all different results.

If you're happy with how the game runs, keep it that way, if not tweak a bit, and it can possibly get a little better.

btw Kable,
I did not mean to upset or offend you, it was just an observation from my part. Most people I read about on some forums have a lot of performance issues with the GF2 MX cards. They all expect near normal GF2 Performance and are upset if they don't.
If you bought one for whatever reason, thats your decision and I'm ok with that, I just think they are overrated, and not worth the money.
