I am sorry to say this, you have worked your asses off for 3/4 years to get the game done, but the problems i am having with MP are getting ridiculous. I play a lot off games, and know my way around on the pc, but can't get MP running smoothly. When MP came out, i tought, hmmm, time for a new gaming rig....yeah great.....Ever heard of a certain Mr John Carmack? Creator of the famous Quake engines. NEVER ONE PROBLEM!! I also noticed that Mr Joe3DR is avoiding questions like http://forums.3drealms.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=17&t=000387&p= but is answering simple questions that are already in the FAQ. Come on, be honest, was this a "release now, patch later" game? Ah right, time for some cash to get Duke funded, right?

System Specs:
Asus A7M266 motherboard
Athlon 1,4 Ghz (not overclocked)
512 MB DDR Ram
Asus AGP-V7700 GeForce 2 GTS – 32MB
Windows 2000 Prof UK SP2

As you may have read in my previous question, i have bad performance. The first few minutes are fine, but than it is choppy like hell. And i am not going to play a 640*480 with all the details on low.

Ok, so i decided to do a clean install Windows ME on a other harddrive (i was using W2K)
+ every update from update.microsoft.com (except IE)
+ 21.81 drivers from nVidia.com
+ Sound drivers for my SB Live! from creative.com
+ AMD Driverpack for the APG from amd.com
+ plus the 101 MP patch
+ Directx 8 from the MP cd-rom

Ok, this is the most ideal situation, you would say. NOTHING INSTALLED BUT THE REQUIRED FILES FOR MP.

Ok, booting up MP, 1024*786*32, d3d t&l enabled (this is how MP started up, with these settings) Did not touch anyting, started the tutorial, i felt the mouselag immediatly already. *SIGH* Ok, let's play on. Few baddies out the dispenser, walk around abit, and the choppyness is back again. Even more terrible than it was in W2K!! Performance was so bad, i did not need to use bullet-time, i was already playing in slow-motion...

Ok, started the game, intro begins, etc etc, in the beginning in runs quite ok, but after 2/3 minutes it is slow as hell again. In the metro station, beng, MP error, to low on memory on your videoadapter (you know the one) you have to lower your settings. Tjeesus, what do you need to get MP running? A dual P4 2ghz, 1gb RAM and a GeForce 3?? Come on!!

So, back to w2k again.

Remedy/3DR, can you please give some info!?!?!? Your FAQ is last-updated 8-16!!! Wauw, what a support!! I think (well i am sure) more people are having these problems if i take a look around the board a bit.

Nothing wrong with MP, it is the most beautifll game i EVER played, but i have absolutely no joy when playing it because of the bad performance. I had to cheat my trough the whole game, cause i couldn't hit anything because of the mouselag.

Tnx, and goodluck.

Hey there, I have the following system.

Asus A7M266
1.33 266 Tird
256 Micron DDR
Geforce 2 GTS 64 Ultra
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound
Im using the 21. version Nvidia XP driver, my game is also patched.

Clean install of Windows XP, running smooth as hell at 1024x768 everything Max ed out. eheh,

I will stop there. We have a lot of things in common mobo etc. I was having all kinds of lockup issues. The only thing I did was go to 2x AGP and everything has been smooth as hell ever since.

I had to do the same thing on Windows ME. As I had the same problem with lock ups.

Something is amiss in your Bios maybe? I really have no issue with the game and we have virtually the same eqipment.

hmm..... I wonder, I had all kinds of problems with that sound card you have even getting my machine to run properly. Might be a good test to pull out the SB live uninstll it's driver and run the game. It's all I can think of at the moment.

Also, Did you get the control panel applet for DX 8a and turn off the debug mode on the direct sound? hmm, I cannot see you post so I forgot what version DX you were running.

what chipset does ur mobo use? mine used the Via chipset and i downloaded 4 in 1 drivers ver 33. i then set agp mode to default in bios and set it to standard when i was promted by the drivers. this fixed any problems that i had w/ my athlon 1.4
