View Full Version : Very Dark Screenshots Using GeForce3

Hello to anyone who reads this,

When I take screenshots in Max Payne, they are very dark and almost unviewable. The characters are so dark that in most cases, they are simply black outlines.

This has happened in other games besides Max Payne, but not nearly as bad. I have adjusted the Gamma on the video card, as well as the settings within the game to make it look good on screen, but it looks really bad in the screenshots, and these are vital as I am preparing a review of Max Payne.

I have listed the system specs below:

AMD Athlon 1.4 Ghz 266Mhz FSB
Asus A7M-266 Motherboard
Asus GeForce3 Pure 64MB (Using NVidia Detonator 4 Drivers, 21.41 I believe)
512MB DDR RAM
SoundBlaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1 Digital

There is one possible way I know to correct this, and that is not to use the screenshot feature within Max Payne, but rather use an external application. I usually use HyperSnap DX, but unfortunately, that does not work in Max Payne either, so I am stumped. HSDX usually works for everything, Glide, Direct3D, DirectX, but for some reason, it will not take a screenshot from Max Payne as the hotkeys do not work.

If anyone can provide insight or assistance with this matter, please reply ASAP.

Regards,
Shawn

You are using 12.41 drivers mate. Well try upgrading to D4 drivers mate from http://www.nvidia.com.

maybe the hotkeys might work if you enable task switching?

Thanks for the replies. I have enabled task-switching, but it did not help.

Also, I have adjusted the brightness in the game, but it stays the same as it was before in the screenshots.

Any other assistance is greatly appreciated.

Shawn

I have the same problem with my cards. I'm running Max Payne and all my 3D games with Voodoo2 (very light), but the screenshots seem to be made with my Riva128 card, because they are very dark like yours. I have control over the gamma setting of my Voodoo2, but I don't have any control of the gamma of my Riva128 card unfortunately.

I am confused too, because why are screenshots made with my Riva128 card when I run the game with my Voodoo2 card actually???!

However, when I have dark screenshots I just correct their gamma with Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop and then resave them.
